2026年6月より、オンタリオ州のドライバーは道路での大きな変化に気付くことになるだろう。
Starting in June 2026, drivers in Ontario will notice a significant change on the road.
州政府は、高速道路網の広範囲にわたり、制限速度を時速100kmから時速110kmへ正式に引き上げると発表した。
The provincial government is officially raising speed limits from 100 km/h to 110 km/h across a massive portion of the highway network.
2026年9月末までには、オンタリオ州の州道の約89%でこの高い制限速度が適用されることになり、以前の43%から大幅に拡大される。
By the end of September 2026, nearly 89% of Ontario's provincial highways will feature this higher limit, up from just 43% previously.
プラブミート・サルカリア運輸大臣は、これらの高速道路は元々より高い速度にも安全に対応できるよう建設されており、現代の工学基準がこの移行を支えていると述べている。
Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria notes that these highways were originally built to accommodate higher speeds safely, with modern engineering standards supporting the transition.
