In late June 2026, Venezuela faced a devastating humanitarian crisis after two massive earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck the nation on June 24.
The tremors caused widespread destruction, with the state of La Guaira identified as the most severely affected area.
India launched 'Operation Amistad,' a significant humanitarian mission to support recovery efforts.
On June 26, the Indian Air Force dispatched two C-17 aircraft carrying over 35 tonnes of supplies, including a field hospital and two BHISHM Cubes, which are modular units designed for rapid emergency medical care.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his solidarity, and Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodríguez thanked India for the timely assistance.
As the crisis remains complex, the UN is monitoring the situation closely while local authorities manage the distribution of aid in the hardest-hit regions.
