On June 25, 2026, the Singapore-flagged container ship 'Ever Lovely' was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Operated by Taiwan’s Evergreen Marine Corp, the vessel was hit on its starboard side near the coast of Oman.
Fortunately, all 21 crew members remained safe, and the ship's engine and navigation systems were unaffected, allowing it to continue its journey.
The incident, which some security sources suggest may have involved a drone, occurred shortly after Iranian authorities warned that vessels using unapproved routes would face consequences.
The attack has had immediate geopolitical repercussions, including the United Nations' decision to pause critical evacuation plans for thousands of stranded seafarers.
As a vital chokepoint for global energy shipments, the Strait of Hormuz remains a highly volatile environment.
